I have a chapter devoted to overseas medical care in my new book, 101 Ways To The Best Medical Care. Howver, I wanted to add a few thoughts.
Traveling anywhere these days is not easy, but overseas travel can be particularly tiring if the flights are long or delayed. Careful planning or booking through a tour group can make things easier. Some things I have found helpful are: Carry any medications in a zip-lock bag. In additon, take along bandaides, an ace bandage, antibiotic ointment, aspirin, and penicillin or another antibiotic your doctor prescribes. Also, take the name of doctors or good hospitals in the places you plan to visit.
I travel as lightly as possible and always have books, a writing pad, playing cards, pens, and ear plugs. ( Ear plugs can save your life, your hearing, and your sanity!)
Travelers with special needs, such as oxygen, a wheelchair, or a Canine Companion should check with the airlines or your travel agent about making any special arrangements.
