Couldn't the hospital and the doctor(s) who looked at this woman be held liable? I'm not one for suing people but she wasn't given the care she needed and therefore had to suffer through another day before any relief was forthcoming.

In Oklahoma it has been the opposite...Not enough testing and care given. My son has Addisons and I diagnosed him after being a nurse for a few years and researching. From age 12 until 21 he suffered with fatigue, passing out, turning green and enough issues I thought he was on drugs. The endocrinologist over dosed him on Testosterone and cause polysythemia and cardiomyopathy. We were at the ER a week ago for SAO2 of 88%, green in color and fatigue. He had chest pain and jaw pain a day or so prior. Today he is not any better and I cannot get him to go to the ER because they won't do anything! My husband nearly died due to an error in surgery that was covered up, my father-in-law had his cancer removed from his kidney and they biopsy came back as the tail of the pancreas and spleen tissue. In elder care facilities the nurses try to kill the patients and have the worst care I have ever seen. I could go on and on. I am ready to fight back but don't know where to start????

It's good that people fight for their medical care which every one deserves.

The quality of medical care in Florida is the primary responsibility of our medical doctors (MDs) and the educational mandate for our state's medical schools. This is a big issue for those MDs who specialize in the medical and surgical practice of ophthalmology. It should equally be a big concern to the citizens of our state. If we permit our legislators to expand, by legislative fiat rather than education accomplishment, those professionals who can legally treat medical diseases, it portends inferior care. When applied to non MDs, such as optometrists, naturopaths, ARNPs, psychologists and pharmacists, more concern for the quality of health care clearly lies ahead. Perhaps, the focus for our legislators should be the quality of medical care, rather than the dollars available to them from the political action committees.
